What it does.
Trending Images creates image fields that can refresh from a social-network API on cron. Each field holds its own selected images, allowing a page’s media to update automatically according to a configured schedule.
A provider plugin system is intended to make the source extensible, while a permanent-image option covers items that should stay in place. The project’s documented Instagram provider is described as still under development, so the published design and current external API behavior should be distinguished.
