DRUPAL MODULE / MEDIA & PUBLISHING

AudioField

Adds audio playback to Drupal content, with support for uploaded files, external audio links and a choice of players.

What it does.

AudioField turns uploaded files and external audio links into playable content. Its Drupal 8 rewrite works through File and Link field formatters, allowing site builders to choose a player appropriate to their content and presentation.

The earlier Drupal 7 implementation adds an audio upload widget and a player API. WS sponsored that Drupal 7 version; the later rewrite has its own development attribution. Audio formats and customization options vary with the selected player.

Capabilities.

  • Native HTML5 playback option
  • Uploaded-file and external-link playback in the Drupal 8 rewrite
  • Player integrations including jPlayer, MediaElement and wavesurfer.js
  • Player-specific appearance and format support

Using the module.

  1. Use the formatter documentation for the Drupal branch being installed.
  2. Download and install the required library when choosing a third-party player.
